On January 7, 2025, Los Angeles changed forever. Devastating wildfires ripped through the Pacific Palisades, Altadena, and other regions across the city, causing unimaginable damage. Thousands of homes and businesses were destroyed, residents were displaced, and communities were fractured. As the home of our Wonderful headquarters, many of our employees, their families, and loved ones were impacted by this tragedy, including some who lost their homes.
Wonderful responded swiftly by providing direct assistance to employees who lost their homes and were displaced by the fires, while also extending aid beyond our company. Guided by our belief in standing with the communities we call home, Wonderful committed $10 million to support long-term recovery and rebuilding efforts. Here are some of the extraordinary groups Wonderful partnered with in the wake of the fires:
Project HOPE
In the immediate aftermath of the Altadena fires, Wonderful provided a grant to Project HOPE to support it's Mobile Medical Units, in partnership with AltaMed, to provide health care and mental health support for displaced families, along with hygiene items, personal protective equipment, clean water, and medications. A year later, Project HOPE continues to offer mental health support for individuals impacted by the fires.

DonorsChoose
In support of teachers whose classrooms were affected by the wildfires, Wonderful provided a grant to the DonorsChoose Wildfire Recovery Fund, providing direct financial support to help replace and supplement essential classroom necessities. Funds supported teachers and students across impacted schools throughout Los Angeles County.
A Sense of Home
The wildfires exposed how deeply disasters affect vulnerable youth. Through a grant to A Sense of Home, foster youth who had recently transitioned out of the foster care system received access to vital resources, including housing support, direct assistance, and home kits.
LA4LA
This past November, LA4LA hosted the Altadena Prefab & Modular Housing Showcase, which displayed affordable alternative rebuilding solutions for the uninsured, underinsured, or lower-income individuals impacted by the fires. Demand was so high – with thousands in attendance – that the showcase was extended for an additional week thanks to The Wonderful Company’s support.

Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles (CHLA)
Funding from The Wonderful Company supported CHLA’s Los Angeles Regional School Resiliency and Recovery program, a pilot initiative in which behavioral health teams delivered critical mental health resources to students, families, and educators impacted by the fires.
In times of crisis, the strength of our team and the generosity of our Wonderful family truly shine. Together, we are proud to continually support Los Angeles as its communities navigate these challenging times and continue to rebuild.
Thanks to The Wonderful Company’s support, we are expanding our efforts to deliver trauma-informed training, technical assistance, and healing-centered guidance to school communities as they recover and rebuild
